Briony

Briony

Owner

I’m Briony, the proud owner of WetWetWet Swim School! I started WetWetWet back in 2002 and did all the teaching myself as a one man band. We have massively grown over the years and gradually I have trained and taken on many new teachers, we now have a fantastic team, and although I occasionally teach (which I absolutely love!!), most of my time is spent managing pools and staff and making sure everything is running smoothly. It gives me great pleasure watching our swimmers grow and progress and being part of so many families lives. Some of our staff learnt to swim with us many years ago, and are now part of our teaching team! How lucky am I!

I have, very happily, been working with WetWetWet as a teacher, aquatics tutor and in the office since it began all those years ago!!    The swim school has such a positive feel, and it’s been a joy to work with such a wonderful team of people over the years!

Melanie

Finance Manager

Hi I’m Melanie (mother of Briony) and have been bookkeeper to Wetwetwet since Day 1 – just one lesson session per week and a few pupils in those days. Proud to see how we’ve grown and proud to be (probably) the oldest bookie in town and work with such fab people! I love seeing pupils develop from scared to loving swimming and also seen such progress with our fab teachers , lots started as pupils including my 3 grandchildren and a few nieces! Claim to fame or strange facts ; appearances on Family Fortunes when hair was black , Wheel of Fortune when hair a bit greyer and many appearances at Wetwetwet galas with various shades 🤩

Daisy

Designated Safeguarding Lead

I have worked with WetWetWet for 15 wonderful years. After studying a Childhood Studies (BA Hons) I returned to work at WWW as the DSL, with many years of experience within Manchester and Brighton. Ensuring all children’s safety and wellbeing is cared for is my passion, whilst supporting their happiness and leaning skills is my joy.

When I’m not working, I love spending time with my two fluffy cat’s or walking on Brighton seafront.

Emma

Emma

Swimming Teacher

Hi, I’m Emma! I’ve been a swimming teacher for over 20 years and have loved the water my whole life. I swam competitively for many years and even started coaching when I was young- it’s always been a big part of who I am.

One of the most rewarding parts of my job is seeing children who started as beginners grow into confident squad-level swimmers as teenagers. I teach everyone from non-swimmers to competitive swimmers, as well as school curriculum lessons. I love teaching children of all abilities and helping each one achieve their personal best.

I have a special interest in SEND, working with neurodivergent children and those with disabilities, brings me so much joy.

Wet Wet Wet is an incredible swim school—it truly feels like family. We support each other every step of the way.

I’m passionate about helping people succeed, feel confident, and reach their full potential.

I can’t wait to see you in the pool! 🏊‍♂️

Rachel M

Rachel M

Swimming Teacher

I have been teaching now for almost 18 years and, to be honest, I can’t imagine ever doing anything else.

Growing up, swimming was a huge part of my life. It was my father that taught me to swim. He is disabled, having had Polio as a child, but has always been an incredible swimmer.

Working as part of the Wet Wet Wet team for over 18 years, has given me so much confidence. I have learnt so much from the other wonderful teachers. It feels like being part of an extended family.

My understanding that all children learn differently and are all welcome in our lessons, allows me to create inclusive, exciting lessons, tailored to individual needs!

Teaching children to become confident and safe in the water is extremely rewarding.

Denise

Hi, I’m Denise but sometimes I call myself , crazy Dee.

I’m originally from Middlesbrough but have lived in Newhaven for 37years. I have 3 daughters and 7 grandchildren. I love going on holidays and going to the Theatre. I work in a Primary School as a SEMH TA, helping develop their best selves. Encouraging confidence building, resilience and everyday smiles.

I love sports and spent many years as a football coach/referee, for a girls club, that my Hubbie ran, before moving into swim teaching. I also have a level 2 in BSL signing. My passion is seeing children achieve, learning new skills and excelling, in all they do, while having lots of fun.

I love working for Wet Wet Wet as I feel part of a big happy family, who have caring, fun, experienced teachers and of course an amazing boss.

Rachel P

Swimming Teacher

I’m Rachel P,

I’ve worked in Education for over 32 years and have taught swimming and water safety alongside my main career for the majority of that time.

Water is my happy place, whether that’s in a pool, lake, river or sea and I want to share my love of swimming with you all.

I swam competitively when I was younger and have been a lifeguard in many settings including pools, rivers and even a lake in upstate New York!

I teach water safety and first aid alongside my practical swimming lessons and take pride in the care that I demonstrate with each individual I teach.

I always ensure that my lessons are inclusive and I love those light bulb moments when swimmers begin to really make a splash or glide seamlessly through the water.

Swimming Teacher

Hi, I’m Amelia,

Currently I’m studying sport and outdoor education at college. I have been swimming since before I could walk and have adored assisting and teaching. I believe swimming is a great way for people to gain confidence and is a truly valuable life skill for everyone to have. I love teaching children to develop this skill, especially as we live so close to the beach.

Swimming is fun, and I love teaching as I get to watch children grow to love the water as much as I do 🙂

Indigo

Swimming Teacher

Ever since I was young I’ve loved the water, I started swimming when I was 6 and started competing when I was 11. I have taken part in numerous pool/open water swimming competitions and I recently, this year, qualified for the Commonwealth Championships for Lifesaving. When I was 16 I took my lifeguarding course and started working at Wet Wet Wet as an assistant, later that year I also got my teacher qualification and began teaching in 2024.
I love swim teaching, especially when I can see the improvement a swimmer has made whether that’s in their technique or mindset. When I’m not at the pool, I’m either at the beach or on the South Downs with my friends!

Annabel

Hi I’m Annabelle, I love teaching as I love watching students develop and reach their goals.

Swimming Assistant

Hi, my name is Ruby.

I have been swimming with Wet Wet Wet for 11 years and recently became a Swimming Teacher’s Assistant. I currently swim in the squad every Friday with Emma and Kerry and I have made some really good friends.

Having been a part of the swim school for so long already, I have learnt a lot from their teachers. I like helping little ones who get scared in the water and distracting them, so that they learn without fear.

I am about to take part in the Wet Wet Wet Gala and I am really looking forward to it.

What our swimmers say

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Since joining the club in April this year we have been so impressed with all the progress both our children have made. As a headteacher, I appreciate the kind (but no nonsense approach) of both instructors. They are nurturing, kind, have a good sense o humour and ensure all the children remain focused...

Cath W.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

My 3 children have swam with Wet Wet Wet since 2009. They joined at just school age, and now my eldest is 14. They are all so confident in the water safe and really strong swimmers. The teachers go above and beyond and really care about if the children are happy and progress... I’m so glad my children have continued with Wet Wet Wet...

Lisa R.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Over the years both my kids and myself have had lessons with Wet Wet Wet. Rachel and Matt got me from not being able to swim a length of front crawl to being really competent at it, and Rachel now (patiently!) teaches my daughter each week. The office are friendly, good communications and updates are clear. Classes are fairly priced and are at pools around Brighton on various days so lots of choice - thanks!
